Acadia Key Evolution: 2007 to 2023
First Gen (Lambda Platform)
Launch generation. Standard remote-head transponder key with Philips ID46 (Circle+) chip, not the often-misquoted 'Texas 4D ID44T'. PK3-era GM architecture. We program through the OBD port using current Autel firmware.
First Gen Limited
Mid-cycle facelift retained the ID46 chip but tweaked the immobilizer trust chain. Same blade profile, same approximate workflow. Common service ticket from Mira Mesa and Rancho Bernardo Acadia owners.
Second Gen
Second-gen on a smaller chassis. Sidewinder laser-cut blade with proximity fob. Acadia migrated to GM Global A architecture here. Programming requires updated tools, especially after the 2017 refresh.
Second Gen Refresh
2020 refresh and beyond run on Global B, the same security platform as the T1XX trucks. Tighter immobilizer auth, FCC ID block similar to M3N family. We have current firmware on the truck.
Third Gen (Global B)
Third-gen redesign, all-new key. 5-button smart proximity fob, FCC YG0G21TB2, NXP HITAG-Pro ID49 chip, CR2450 cell, GM Global B with server authentication. Departs from the older ID46/CR2032 setup. Marco carries the current GM tooling and programs these from El Cajon to La Jolla.
Identify Your Acadia Key
1st-gen remote-head transponder. Philips ID46 (Circle+) chip. Standard double-sided blade. 2007-2012 build.
Facelift-era transponder. ID46 chip, same form factor as launch. 2013-2016 second-gen first half.
Sidewinder proximity fob. Laser-cut emergency blade. Global A immobilizer. 2017-2019 build.
Refresh proximity fob. Global B immobilizer, tighter auth. 2020-2023 build.
3rd-gen proximity fob. 5-button, FCC YG0G21TB2, NXP HITAG-Pro ID49 chip, CR2450 cell, GM Global B. New ID49/CR2450 spec, not the older ID46/CR2032. Server-authenticated pairing, fully serviceable on the truck.

Acadia Problems We Solve Across San Diego
2017-2019 Housing Cracks from Pry Tools
Acadia proximity fob housings on 2017-2019 builds crack when previous owners used metal pry tools to swap the CR2032. Cracked housings drop water and dust into the board. We replace the housing and pair-test on-site.
Wrong Chip Diagnosis (Texas 4D Myth)
Aftermarket databases sometimes list 'Texas 4D ID44T' for the Acadia. Wrong. Philips ID46 (Circle+), full stop. Wrong chip equals dead car after programming.
Global B Auth Failures (2020+)
Refresh Acadias on Global B sometimes drop the immobilizer trust chain after 12V events. We rebuild the auth on-site with current firmware. No tow.
Sidewinder Blade Wear (2017+)
Sidewinder cuts wear faster than the older double-sided blades, especially with heavy keychains. Fresh cut to factory code on the Condor solves most sticky ignitions.
Can You Program an Acadia Key in Your Driveway?
No. 1st-gen ID46 transponder requires OBD programming. PIN read from the BCM, then chip write. Pro tools only.
No. Facelift carries the same ID46 architecture. No DIY path.
No. Sidewinder proximity needs the blade cut on a code machine and proximity pairing via OBD. Not a hardware-store job.
No. Global B auth requires licensed equipment. Pro stack only.

Acadia Trivia
The Acadia launched in 2007 as GMC's crossover answer to the Honda Pilot, sharing its Lambda platform with the Saturn Outlook and Chevy Traverse. Aftermarket key databases have miscredited the Acadia transponder chip as 'Texas 4D ID44T' for years, but the actual chip is Philips ID46 (Circle+), the same family GM used across most of its 2007 to 2017 mid-size lineup. The 2017-2019 second-gen fobs are notorious for housing cracks when owners use metal pry tools to swap the CR2032.
