2023 GMC Acadia Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from Fernbrook on a Tuesday morning just before 8am. The woman on the line had just pulled a 12-hour overnight shift and walked out to her car in the lot to find her fob completely unresponsive. Not a weak signal, not a low battery warning. Dead. The vehicle wouldn't acknowledge it at all.
She didn't want a dealer appointment later in the week. She wanted to go home and sleep.
I was already heading toward Ramona, so I told her I could be there in under 30 minutes. When I pulled up, she was sitting on a parking block next to her Acadia with her badge still around her neck.
I popped the fob open on my work surface. The CR2032 looked okay at a glance, but it was reading low under load. Swapped it first, tested. Still nothing. The fob itself had failed, not the battery.
I pulled a replacement fob from my kit, connected to the OBD port, and ran the key learning procedure for the vehicle. The whole programming sequence took under 20 minutes once I had everything set up. I tested every button, checked that the vehicle was recognizing the fob at normal range across the parking lot, and walked her through the hidden mechanical blade and the backup start method before she left.
She drove home before 9am. The dealer wasn't even open yet when she first called me. That part wasn't the point to her. Getting home was the point.
