Yukon Key Generations 1995 to 2025
GMT800 Platform, Transponder Key
GMT400 1995-1999. VATS-era resistor pellet keys, 15 possible resistance values. No transponder chip; the ignition reads ohms off a tiny pellet in the blade and times you out for four minutes on a wrong read.
GMT900 Platform, Remote Head Key
GMT800 2000-2006. PassLock immobilizer with no transponder chip in the key at all. The system reads a Hall sensor in the ignition cylinder; the BCM has to be re-paired after any cylinder work. Common East County call.
K2XX Platform, Flip Key
GMT900 2007-2014. PK3+ with the Philips ID46 (Crypto 2) chip embedded in the key head. Two-key on-board procedure works for adding a third; all-keys-lost needs PIN extraction through the OBD port.
T1XX Platform, Smart Key
K2XX 2015-2020 introduced the sidewinder laser-cut blade and proximity fob. T1XX 2021-2025 runs M3N-32337100 FCC with Global B immobilizer. Server auth required on the T1XX.
Identify Your Yukon Key
VATS-era pellet key. No chip in the head, no battery; the resistance value in the blade has to match the column reading. GMT400 1995-1999.
PassLock-era ignition key. No transponder chip in the key; immobilization sits in the cylinder Hall sensor. GMT800 2000-2006.
Remote-head transponder with Philips ID46 (Crypto 2). Standard blade on most trims, flip-key on later builds. GMT900 2007-2014.
Sidewinder proximity fob. K2XX (2015-2020) or T1XX (2021-2025) with M3N FCC.

Yukon Problems We Fix in San Diego
2010+ Relay Theft Vulnerability
Yukon T1XX and K2XX builds from 2010 onward are subject to relay theft attacks. A June 2025 class-action lawsuit names GM over the issue. We install RFID-blocking pouches and pair-test on-site after any aftermarket immobilizer work.
Sidewinder Blade Wear (2015+)
K2XX and T1XX sidewinder cuts wear quickly with heavy keychains. Fresh cut on the Condor solves most sticky ignitions.
PK3 Global B Auth Drops on T1XX (2000-2014)
Older Yukons drop immobilizer sync after 15-plus years. Dash lights, no crank. We re-pair with the BCM PIN on-site.
Global B Auth Drops on T1XX
2021+ Yukons sometimes drop the trust chain after 12V events. We rebuild auth on-site with current firmware.
Can You Program a Yukon Key Yourself?
No on VATS. The pellet resistance has to be measured on a multimeter and a fresh blank cut to match, then the blade has to be cut to your lock code. Both steps need shop equipment.
Sort of on GMT900 PK3+. Two-key on-board procedure adds a third if you already have two working keys. New key still has to be cut and the ID46 chip written first.
No on K2XX. Sidewinder blade cut on a code machine plus proximity pairing through OBD. Pro tools required.
No on T1XX. Global B server auth required, licensed equipment only.

Yukon Trivia
The Yukon launched in 1992 as GMC's full-size SUV alongside the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban. Across five generations the platform progressed GMT400 to GMT800 to GMT900 to K2XX to T1XX. The 2010-onward Yukon is named in a June 2025 class-action lawsuit over relay-amplification theft, where thieves capture the proximity fob signal from outside a closed garage. RFID-blocking pouches are the easy at-home defense.
