2019 GMC Acadia Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman in Fairbanks Ranch called me on a Tuesday morning. She had two kids waiting on school pickup and her Acadia wouldn't acknowledge the fob at all. No lock, no unlock, nothing from the liftgate button. The start button just sat there ignoring her.
She had already done the right thing and put a fresh CR2032 in. Still nothing.
I pulled up to her driveway, popped the fob open on the hood of my van, and looked at the battery contacts right away. The new cell was in there, but whoever had swapped it had bent the positive contact slightly away from the battery surface. Intermittent connection. Enough to sometimes work, not enough to stay reliable. I reset the contact, re-seated the battery, and started walking through the whole fob systematically: lock, unlock, remote start if equipped, liftgate, panic. Everything came back clean. The vehicle's security system recognized the fob immediately.
She watched the whole thing and said she figured she needed a new fob programmed. I told her the fob was fine, the contact just needed to actually touch the battery.
She got back to her afternoon. I was on the road in under twenty minutes. No dealer trip, no tow, no appointment booked out three days.
