2022 GMC Acadia Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Moving day doesn't wait for the dealer to open. A family at the storage facility in Poway was loading a rental truck early in the morning when the only key to their 2022 GMC Acadia went missing. It was somewhere in the storage unit, buried under boxes they'd already loaded. Finding it meant unloading everything. The facility closed at 5pm and the rental truck was due back by 6pm.

I decoded the door lock with my B111 Lishi, cut a fresh blade, and ran the add-a-key procedure through OBD. His fob, FCC ID HYQ1ES, was a 5-button remote that I programmed and tested in the lot. I told them the old lost key still works if they ever find it, since add-a-key doesn't erase previous keys from the system.

They were back to loading within 45 minutes of my arrival. Total was $286. The dealer would have charged $487 and they would have lost the entire moving day. Sometimes the speed isn't about convenience. It's about a hard deadline that doesn't move.

How long does the GMC dealer take for key replacement?▼

A GM dealer tech says the actual programming takes about 15 minutes using dealer software. But that 15 minutes comes buried inside a much longer process.
