KEYZ

Serving Bayside Drivers Daily
Every Toyota since 2005 has a transponder chip inside the key head. If that chip isn't registered to the car's ECU, the engine won't start. Doesn't matter if the blade is cut perfectly. A 2012 Camry owner at Bayside found that out after two hardware store copies failed back-to-back in the underground garage. The blade fit, the ignition turned, but the immobilizer saw no 4D67 signal and killed the fuel injectors cold. I wrote the correct chip value to a fresh key with a Smart Pro and had the car running in fifteen minutes. That's the difference between cutting metal and programming security.
Weather & Driving Factor
Bayside sits directly on San Diego Bay's edge, bordered by Palm Avenue, 13th Street, and bayfront paths. Summer highs average 73-75 F in July-August, roughly 10 F cooler than inland San Diego County. The bay and Pacific Ocean (1 mile west via Bayside Park) expose vehicles to salt air from tidal breezes. Predominant winds are westerly coastal gusts at 10-15 mph in afternoons. Morning fog from the marine layer reduces visibility, especially June through August near bayfront streets like Cypress Avenue.
WHAT THE VAN CARRIES
Transponder Key Programming
Your 2014 Toyota Camry uses a 4D67 transponder chip running at 125 kHz. When a hardware store blank turns the ignition but the engine won't fire, the chip is either missing or unregistered to the ECU. I write the correct 4D67 value to a new key using a Smart Pro and sync it at the diagnostic port. Happens constantly in the Bayside garage. $145-$185.
Car Key Replacement
Your BMW 3-Series runs a CAS module with Hitag-2 crypto. When both keys are gone, there's no working key to start the standard add-key process, so the module has to be read directly. I pull CAS data with a VVDI2, extract the ISN, then cut and code a fresh key matched to the original profile. A Bayside resident lost both somewhere between Little Italy and the lobby. Thirty-five minutes from arrival to engine start. $245-$325.
Lockout Service
Your Honda CR-V has a door seal gap that responds well to calibrated air wedges and a long-reach tool. When you lock the key inside after unloading at the Bayside drop-off on Pacific Highway, I'm there in 15-20 minutes. $105-$145.
Key Fob Programming
Your 2018 Toyota RAV4 uses a Toyota H-chip with DST-AES encryption, a generation ahead of the older 4D67. When an aftermarket fob unlocks the doors but won't start the engine, the immobilizer side wasn't programmed. I sync both remote and immobilizer functions using an Autel IM608, then delete any lost fobs so nobody else can access your car in the Bayside garage. $245-$325.
