When a 2016 Jaguar F-Type key is done wrong, it doesn't partially work. It fails. The KVM rejects the fob entirely, or the car starts once and refuses the key after a drive cycle because the ID49 chip data wasn't written correctly. On Jaguar, the immobilizer verification is strict.
A veterinary dermatologist at the cat boarding facility in Port Hueneme had a smart key made by another locksmith for her F-Type that stopped working after two days. It started the car at first, then the push-to-start refused to detect it. She thought the car had a computer fault, but it didn't.
