Jaguar uses a module called the KVM on newer models and a standard immobilizer on older ones. KVM stands for Key Vehicle Module, and it controls the keyless entry, the push-to-start ignition, and the encrypted handshake between the smart fob and the car. When you press the start button or approach with Keyless-Go active, the KVM sends a challenge signal. If the smart key responds with the correct encrypted code, the engine starts.
