2002 Jaguar X-Type Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from someone parked near the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center in Oxnard. She was visiting from out of state and her only key to a 2002 Jaguar X-Type had taken a hard drop onto concrete. The flip key housing cracked right at the pivot, and the blade was stuck half-open. She could still wedge it into the ignition, but the remote was dead and she was afraid to force it any further.
I pulled up and took a look. The NHVWB1U241 fob housing was split along the seam, and one of the CR2032 battery contacts had bent inward from the impact. The transponder chip was fine, which is the part that actually talks to the KVM and lets the engine start. The remote side was the problem.
I had a matching 4-button flip key shell in the van. Transferred the transponder chip and the circuit board into the new housing, seated a fresh CR2032, then used my HU101 Lishi to decode her door lock and cut a new blade on site. Programmed the remote functions through OBD using JLR diagnostic software, which talks to the KVM module directly.
Tested all four buttons, blade flip action, door lock, ignition start. She stood there watching the whole time, quiet until the engine turned over. Then she just nodded and said she had a ferry time to keep.
Thirty-five minutes, start to finish, right there in the parking lot.
