Your 2019 or newer ES runs a smart key with push-button start, a laser-cut emergency blade, and a CR2032 battery inside the fob. Programming on these requires advanced diagnostic access. We handle these on-site with the right tools and get you back on the road without a dealer visit.
Eighth Generation (XZ20)
Your newest ES continues with the smart key system, laser-cut blade, and CR2032 battery. Programming requires dealer-level access, and because this generation just started production in late 2025, we verify every spec by VIN before we roll out. We will always be upfront about what we can and cannot do on-site.

First question on an ES call: how many working keys do you still have? With at least one on a 1998-2004 ES, an add-key is fast and affordable. All keys lost means an immobilizer reset, more time and more money. A spare made early saves real cash.
Smart Key Fob Battery Depletion
Dead CR2032 in a 2019+ ES fob mimics a dead key. Doors stop unlocking, start button ignores you. The laser-cut emergency blade opens the driver door, and the dead fob held against the start button fires the engine. Fresh CR2032 brings it back.
Key Will Not Start the Car
Turn the key or press the button, nothing happens. On 1998-2006 ES this means the transponder chip is not talking to the immobilizer. On 2019+ models it is often a fob desync or deeper programming issue. We diagnose on-site first.

ES immobilizer architecture changed across generations: basic transponder verification early, encrypted smart-key proximity later. The wrong blank or chip can lock the ECU, not just fail. We match chip and method to your year and VIN every time.
Can You Program a Lexus ES Key Yourself?
Yes, if you have one working master key. There is a pedal and brake sequence that puts the car into programming mode. Timing is critical, so follow each step carefully. Remote pairing on the 1998 uses a separate door cylinder cycle procedure.
Yes, with one working master key. You will use an ignition on/off and door open/close sequence. The security light blinks for up to two minutes while the new key registers. If it does not work the first time, start over from scratch.
No DIY option here. From 2005 on, your ES requires dealer-level diagnostic tools like Techstream or professional locksmith programmers like the Autel IM608.
