A couple near Oxnard Transit Center came out of a Saturday evening show and their 2005 Lexus ES 330 was dead to the fob. No door unlock from the handle sensor, no push-to-start response, nothing. They figured the car had a bigger problem and were ready to leave it overnight and deal with it Monday.
One of them searched "Lexus locksmith" and my number came up. I was about 12 minutes out.
When I got there the fob looked fine on the outside. Popped the HYQ14AAB shell open on the hood and the CR1632 was original. Not just dead, but slightly corroded around one contact tab. That thin film of oxidation is enough to block the signal completely, even though the battery still showed a faint charge on my meter.
Cleaned the contacts, dropped in a fresh CR1632, and reseated the board (Denso 271451-0140). The fob lit up on the first press. Walked every function: driver handle touch unlock, passenger side, trunk release, panic, and then push-to-start with foot on brake. All clean.
They drove home that night instead of calling a cab and waiting two days. The whole thing took less time than it took them to find my number. I carry the right fob shells, TOY48 emergency inserts, and CR1632 cells in the van already sorted by model. A Saturday night call works the same as a Tuesday morning one.
