A guy near Historic Plaza Park in Oxnard called me about his 2007 Lexus ES 350. Key snapped right in the ignition. Half the TOY48 blade was still jammed in the cylinder, the other half sitting on his lap.
He had already called the dealer. They told him tow it in, leave it for a few days, and they would handle everything. He did not love that answer.
I got there and used my Lishi TOY48 pick and decoder to extract the broken fragment without chewing up the wafer surfaces inside the lock. Once it was out clean, I decoded the lock from the readings and cut a fresh blade on the van. The 2007 ES 350 runs the Texas Instruments 4D-67 transponder chip in the key head, separate from the Smart Key fob. So his HYQ14AAB remote was fine, sitting in his pocket working like normal. He just needed the mechanical key replaced with the correct chip inside.
I programmed the new transponder through the OBD-II port. The immobilizer on these XV40 ES models talks through the smart key ECU, part number 89990-33023 on most 2007 builds. Registration took a few minutes.
He sat on a bench watching the whole thing. When I handed him the finished key and he turned the ignition over, he just nodded. That was it. No tow truck, no loaner car, no waiting days. Done on site for a fraction of what the dealer quoted him.
