2016 Lexus ES
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2016 Lexus ES Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy found me after a bad experience. He had paid a cut-rate locksmith to program a replacement fob for his 2016 ES, and the job came back half done.

The car would unlock when he touched the door handle, but the push-to-start button just sat there blinking at him. No start. He had been living with it for two weeks, using the hidden blade to get in and then calling his wife to come jump-start a whole different problem he thought was related. It was not.

He tracked me down and reached out while he was parked off Main Street in Downtown Ventura. First thing he asked, before he even described the problem, was how to tell if I was the real deal. Fair. I gave him my BSIS license number right there on the call and told him to pull it up on the state website while we were still talking. He did.

When I got there, I pulled the fob apart on the hood. The battery was seated fine. I connected my diagnostic tool and found that the previous programmer had only completed part of the registration. The fob was talking to the door system but it had never been fully enrolled with the vehicle security system, so the start function had no idea it existed.

I cleared the partial registration, ran the full enrollment sequence, and walked every function: touch unlock on both front handles, the lock button, the start button, the trunk release, the panic. Everything came back clean.

He stood there for a second after I handed it back, hit the start button from about fifteen feet away, and just watched the dash light up. He said, "I paid twice for this." I told him at least the second time it actually worked.
