2014 Fiat 500l
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2014 Fiat 500l Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A woman who works flight crew had her 500L parked in the townhouse row near Old Poway. She reached out because her key was falling apart, literally. The fold-out blade had gotten loose at the pivot, so it wouldn't lock into the extended position anymore. Every time she went to start the car she was holding the blade in place with her thumb.

She had already stopped at the dealer. They told her the only path was a full new key, cut and programmed, and quoted her a number she did not want to pay. What they skipped mentioning was that her chip and remote board were both working fine. The shell and pivot were the only problem.

I met her at her place that evening. I inspected the board before doing anything else. Clean, intact, buttons responding. I transferred her electronics into a replacement housing with a solid pivot mechanism, then cut a fresh blade to match her vehicle by decoding the lock. The whole thing took less time than she expected.

Every button got tested on the car before I left. Lock, unlock, the trunk release, the full sequence. The blade seated properly in the ignition. She had her key back, working like new, for a fraction of what the dealer had quoted for a full replacement.

She mentioned she had been putting off dealing with it for two weeks because she figured it would be a whole ordeal. It was not.
