Push-to-start all-keys-lost is the job that worries most Infiniti owners the most. No visible key slot on the dash. No way to "just turn the ignition." The car needs to wirelessly detect a fob programmed to its specific IMMO module before it powers on. If that fob is gone, the car feels dead, but it isn't.
A nonprofit director at the charity gala parking lot outside Oxnard had a 2012 Infiniti M37 with push-to-start and zero keys. She was leaving an evening event and her fob was nowhere. Two volunteers told her luxury car AKL was always dealer-only.
I drove to the venue. Push-to-start AKL is more involved than standard add-a-key because the IMMO module needs full access and old key data has to be wiped before new fobs register. On some Infiniti models this means reading security data with bench tools before finishing through OBD. I used my ACDP to pull the IMMO data as a backup, then ran AKL through OBD with my IM608. Her smart key, FCC ID CWTWB1U787, was a 4-button proximity fob.
Her car started in the gala lot. Total was around 95. Dealer would have been 200 plus a tow. Smart key AKL isn't dealer-only. It's tool-dependent.
