There is a community garden lot over in the Sweetwater area of National City. A volunteer there called me on a Saturday morning. Before she even described the problem, she told me she had already paid someone else to do this job. That is never a good way to start a call.

I connected through the OBD port, pulled the correct PIN from the module, cleared the failed key data that the previous tech had left behind, and ran the full registration sequence clean. Her fob, all four buttons, emergency blade, start, lock, unlock, everything came up confirmed on my screen. I turned the laptop toward her so she could see the confirmation herself. She had been told a story about a bad module. I wanted her to see the actual result.
She had already paid once for work that was not done right. I could not fix that. I could make sure she was not going to pay twice for the same broken outcome.
