Locked Out in College?

First I pin down where the car actually is, not where you are standing. In College that matters, because people call me from home while the car is still on Day Road, in the Ventura College East Lot, or by Victoria Plaza. I ask for the make, year, whether any key exists, and a photo of the parking sign. Then I meet you at the vehicle, verify ID and registration, and start.

Sometimes the battery is dead, sometimes the remote board still unlocks the doors while the proximity side has quit and the car says no key detected. A Civic owner at the Vons side of Victoria Plaza thought she needed a tow. The fob she bought was the wrong FCC ID, so the car never had a chance to learn it. I tested the signal, paired the correct remote, and she drove off.

I start with ownership verification, then the code path. On College calls that usually means VIN-based code pulling first, because it saves time in packed Ventura College lots. If the record does not give me enough, I decode the door with the correct Lishi, cut the blade on the Dolphin, and write the new key into the immobilizer or BCM at the vehicle. Some cars still force a security wait.

A photo ID and something tying you to the vehicle, usually registration, title, or an insurance card with a matching name or address. If those papers are locked inside, I can open the car first, then verify the documents before I cut or pair anything. For cars off Seton Hall or near the PAC, I also want the plate and exact spot so I meet the right person at the right car.

Usually yes, but I decide that off the sign, not off hope. Streets around Ventura College use timed restrictions, and Day Road, Seton Hall, and nearby streets sit inside that permit zone. If you have enough legal time left, I work it where it sits. If the clock is about to run out, I may have you move to a legal stall first, because stopping halfway through a pairing job is a mess.

No secret catch. Price changes with the job. A lockout in College is $95-$125. A chipped key is $145-$185, a remote head key is $175-$225, fob programming is $165-$215, and a smart key is $245-$325. What you skip is the tow, the appointment lag, and the dealer counter. Because I am a NASTF Vehicle Security Professional, I still verify ownership and handle secured data the right way.
