She was at the rental car return lot in San Diego early in the morning, about to switch from a rental back to her own 2010 Audi R8, and her only Audi key was not in her bag. She had left it at the hotel she checked out of an hour ago. The hotel front desk said they searched the room and found nothing. The key was gone. She returned the rental, started her own car, and drove to the airport with time to spare. Total was $243. The dealer wanted $462 and a next-week appointment. She would have missed her flight, paid rental extension fees, and still been without a key.
