2022 Kia Carnival Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A travel nurse on a 13-week assignment called me from an apartment garage in Winter Gardens, Lakeside. She had one key to her 2022 Carnival and it had stopped being recognized at the door handles. The dash was throwing a key warning, the van wouldn't start, and she needed to be at the hospital by her next shift.
She had already called the dealer. They told her the earliest appointment was Friday. It was Monday. Four days of rideshares to and from her shifts, with hospital hours, was not a workable situation.
I was in that garage the same afternoon.
I connected my diagnostic equipment through the OBD port, ran the Kia smart key registration procedure, programmed the replacement fob, and cut the emergency insert blade on site. Then I walked every function: door handles, start button response, the emergency blade in the door cylinder. Everything confirmed before I packed up.
She asked how the dealer could possibly take until Friday for something that took under an hour. Honestly, it's mostly scheduling and parts ordering. They don't carry every fob on the shelf, and their service lanes are backed up. I carry the inventory and come to wherever the car is sitting.
She drove herself to work Tuesday morning. The dealer comparison was almost an afterthought by the time we were done. She saved a good chunk and lost zero shifts.
