She was parked near the Mission San Luis Rey Area, July heat, Costco run in the back of her 2025 Carnival. Frozen food, dairy, the whole cart. She hit the door handle and nothing happened. Tried the fob buttons. Nothing. The car sat there like it didn't know her.

I swapped in a fresh CR2450, reseated the board in the shell, and confirmed the battery contacts were making clean contact on both poles.
Then I walked every function: door handles, all lock and unlock buttons, the sliding door releases, the liftgate button. The fob has seven buttons and I checked each one before I closed my bag.
The groceries were fine. She said she had no idea you could hold the fob to the button like that. I told her to write it on a sticky note in the glove box. She laughed and said she'd just save my number instead.
