A disabled veteran at the VA clinic lot in La Mesa called about his 2021 Kia K5. He used a wheelchair and getting to a Kia dealer across town was a real problem, not just an inconvenience. His aide wasn't available and his only key's remote had stopped working.

I went to the VA lot that morning. His car used an older edge-cut system. I decoded the lock with my Lishi, cut a fresh key, and programmed the transponder through OBD with the PIN. His separate remote, FCC ID CQOFD00790, was a 5-button fob that I paired at the same time.

He didn't have to leave the clinic. Didn't have to call anyone for a ride. Total was $216 for two keys. Dealer quoted $391 for one plus the challenge of getting there.
