2024 Kia Seltos Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call out of Downtown National City on a weekday morning.
A home health aide was about to leave for her shift and her Seltos fob had been acting up for a while, buttons getting harder to press, the housing cracked along one corner where it had been dropped a few times. She told me one of the side buttons had finally sunk in and stopped returning. The fob still started the car if she held it close to the start button, but she was one bad morning away from being completely stuck.
She had already called the dealer. They quoted her a full replacement key, told her the whole unit had to be swapped out. She wrote down the number, thanked them, and then looked it up online for about an hour before she found me.
I pulled up to her driveway and had a look at the fob before I said anything. The shell was the problem. The electronics board inside was clean, the battery contacts were fine, the transponder component was intact. Everything worth money was working. The housing was just broken.
I transferred the internals into a replacement shell, seated the CR2032 correctly, and went through every button. Lock, unlock, the panic, the remote functions, all of it. Then I walked the vehicle, checked both door handles, made sure the start button was reading the fob from normal distance. It behaved exactly the way it should.
She was on the road in time for her first client. The dealer quote was for a whole new key she did not need.
