Q: My Relay cranks but immediately stalls right after starting. The fob is fine. What is going on?

That crank-and-immediately-stall pattern on the 2005 Relay almost always points to the immobilizer not recognizing the transponder in the key. The engine fires on the crank because there is fuel and spark, but the vehicle security system cuts it right back down when it does not get the right signal from the transponder chip.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my Relay. Will it work right out of the box?

No. A new or aftermarket fob for the 2005 Relay has to be programmed to the vehicle before it does anything. It will not lock, unlock, or trigger the remote functions until it is registered. You still need someone with the right diagnostic equipment to do that step. The fob purchase just gets you the hardware -- the programming is a separate job.
