A recent college grad at the private gym lot in the Camarillo area near Round Mountain Trail had just bought a used 2010 Audi Q5 from a friend of a friend. Great condition, fair price, one key. The seller told him a spare would not cost much. He called the Audi dealer and heard 200. He had just started his first real job and that number hit different after a down payment and insurance.
He found me online and asked if the dealer price was standard. I told him it was. Audi dealers charge what Audi dealers charge. But the same key, the same cut, the same programming runs 95 through me because I do not carry the overhead.
I met him at the gym before his workout. His Q5 used an older flip key with the HU66 blade and a Megamos 48 transponder chip. I used my VVDI2 to read the existing key's chip data and clone it onto a fresh blank. The VVDI2 reads the Megamos transponder code from a working key and writes an identical copy to a new chip so the car's immobilizer accepts it without a full security reset. His fob's FCC ID was IYZFBSB802.
He drove away with two working keys for 95. That second key also means if he loses one later, the replacement is a simple add-a-key instead of all-keys-lost, which saves even more. The dealer wanted 200 for one spare.
