Over by the Santa Susana Depot Museum in Simi Valley, an interior designer had been nursing a single flip key on her 2009 Q5 for over a year. Bought the car used, got one key, kept telling herself she would deal with it later.
She finally called the Audi dealer. They told her to bring the car in, leave it for most of the day, and order the key through the parts desk tied to her VIN. She called me that evening instead.
I met her at the wine bar patio. The Q5 was parked right out front. I pulled my HU66 Lishi and decoded her driver door lock directly. The HU66 is a pick-and-decode tool built for the VAG keyway that reads the wafer positions inside the cylinder, so I can cut a precise blade without needing the original as a template. Handy when there is only one key and the owner does not want to hand it over.
Cut the blade on my mobile station, seated the Megamos 48 chip in the new 8T0959754G flip key housing, and programmed it through the OBD port using the BCM2 login. Tested ignition start, remote lock, remote unlock, and trunk release. Thirty-five minutes, done while she finished her glass of wine.
