2016 Audi Q5
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How fast can you get to my location in Camarillo?

For calls in Camarillo and Camarillo Heights, I'm usually on site within 30 minutes depending on traffic. When you call, I confirm the year and model, grab the right blanks, and head straight to you. No waiting on parts, no appointment window. Every call I take is treated as same-day.

Q: Can I get a replacement key made today?

Yes. The 2016 Q5 mechanical key is cut from a blank I carry on the van. There's no part to order, no VIN authorization through the manufacturer, and no waiting on anything from overseas. You call, I come to you in Camarillo Heights, and you have a working key the same day. Dealers sometimes quote a week or more just for parts logistics. That's not a factor here.

Q: My key is worn and starting to slip in the ignition. Do I need to replace the cylinder too, or just the key?

Usually just the key. A worn key that slips or feels loose is almost always the blade, not the cylinder. Cylinders on the Q5 are built to last, and they wear slower than the key itself since the key takes most of the friction. The right move is to have a fresh key cut to the original code and test it before assuming anything else needs work.

Q: I lost my only key. Can you still make a replacement without having a working key to copy?

Yes. With a mechanical key, having the original isn't required. I can pull the key code tied to your VIN or decode the lock cylinder directly. Either method gets me to the correct cut without needing the original key in hand. All-keys-lost on a mechanical setup is a normal job.

2016 Audi Q5 Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a woman in Camarillo Heights who'd snapped her key off in the door lock of her 2016 Q5. Not in the ignition, in the door. She'd been using that lock all winter and didn't realize how worn the key had gotten until it let her know in the worst way possible.

She called the dealer first. They told her to have the car towed in, which would have meant scheduling, waiting for a parts lookup, and coming back another day. She called me instead.

I was already in Camarillo, so I pulled up within twenty minutes. The broken stub came out of the cylinder cleanly with a plug follower. Then I decoded the lock and cut a replacement key on site from a blank. She watched the whole thing from her driveway.

The new key went in smooth, turned clean, and she locked and unlocked the car a few times just to be sure. The dealer comparison came up on its own. She'd already been quoted what a tow plus their key work would run. What she paid me was a fraction of that, and her car never left her driveway.

How long does a 2016 Audi Q5 key replacement take?▼

For this vehicle with a mechanical key, the job is about cutting a blade, not programming anything. Once I have the key code from the VIN or decode the lock on site, cutting and testing the replacement typically takes 20 to 30 minutes from the time I arrive. If there's a broken key extraction involved first, add a few minutes for that. Either way, it's a same-visit job.
