She walked out of the restaurant after a late dinner in Camarillo and her purse was gone. Someone grabbed it off the back of her chair. Keys, wallet, phone, everything. She borrowed the hostess phone and called the police first, then her husband, then me. She's an ER doctor. She couldn't be without a vehicle.
Her 2017 Jeep Patriot was in the nightclub valet area next door with zero keys. The dealer told her husband they could order a fob but it would take 3 to 5 business days, the vehicle would need to be towed in, and they suggested rekeying since the stolen key could still open the doors.
I got there that night. All-keys-lost after a theft is different from adding a spare. I wipe the entire key memory so the stolen fob can't start the engine even if the thief tries. I used my IM608 to access the wireless control module, erase all stored key data, and program two new fobs from scratch. Her smart key, FCC ID OHT692427AA, was a 4-button proximity fob. I decoded the lock with my Lishi, cut the emergency blade, and had both fobs working before the valet lot closed.
She drove home that night. Total was 185 for two new keys. Dealer estimated 395 plus a tow and a multi-day wait. The stolen key is dead to the vehicle.
