What if I need a Land Rover key after hours or on the weekend?

Most Land Rover dealer service departments close by 5 or 6 PM and are closed on Sundays. If you lose your key on a Saturday evening or any time after hours, you are stuck until Monday at the earliest, and that is before the weeks-long wait for a factory key order even begins. One owner had their vehicle towed home on a weekend and sat without a working key until they could reach a locksmith or dealer on Monday. We work outside of normal dealer hours so you are not left waiting days just to start the process.

How long does programming take once you are at my car?

That depends on the model and situation. An add-a-key on an older Discovery with a working key present can be done in 30 to 45 minutes. A newer Range Rover or Defender smart key takes closer to 60 to 90 minutes because of the encrypted KVM handshake. An all-keys-lost job adds module access and reset time on top of cutting and programming. One locksmith documented a Range Rover Sport all-keys-lost job completed in about 30 minutes on site. In all cases, we are talking hours, not the weeks or months that dealer-ordered keys require.

Land Rover dealers have to order keys from JLR (10 days to 6 weeks), schedule a service appointment (days to weeks out), and then program the key in the bay (about an hour). One Range Rover owner described a locksmith doing the entire job in 30 minutes at their location for $450 versus a dealer process that would have taken weeks and cost over $1,000.
