Got a call from a guy near Moorpark College in Moorpark. His 2015 LR4 HSE was sitting in his driveway, totally locked out, no spare. He said the dash had been showing "Smart Key Battery Low" for a couple weeks, then one morning it escalated to "Key Not Detected" and the start button went dead.
He called the Land Rover dealer first. They told him the key needed to be ordered through JLR, shipped from the UK warehouse, and it could be ten days to six weeks. Plus a tow to the dealership since the car would not start. He was not thrilled.
I pulled up in the van, popped the emergency blade out of his old fob housing, and got the driver door open manually. Then I connected to the OBD port under the dash and talked to the KVM through JLR-compatible diagnostic software. The 2015 LR4 runs a Hitag Pro transponder in the smart key, and the KVM handles both passive entry and the engine immobilizer authorization. Programming means syncing the new KOBJTF10A fob to that module, writing the transponder, and cutting the HU101 emergency blade to factory spec.
Whole thing took about 35 minutes. He stood in his driveway watching, coffee in hand, testing the passive entry on each door as I finished up. Walked around the car twice like he did not trust it yet. Then hit the tailgate button, heard the latch release, and finally relaxed.
