The Stelvio's immobilizer does have a timed sequence built into the all-keys-lost procedure, so the job takes longer than a simple spare, typically 30 to 45 minutes on site. No existing key needed. Intermittent key-not-detected on the Stelvio is one of the more frustrating patterns because it doesn't fail the same way twice. A few things cause it. A CR2032 that's low but not dead will work fine in cool morning air and then lose enough signal strength when it warms up in your pocket or bag. The antenna loop inside the fob can also develop a hairline crack from being dropped, which gives you the same unpredictable behavior. On the vehicle side, corrosion on the 12-volt battery terminals can cause the security system to intermittently lose communication with the fobs it has stored. Start with the battery in the fob, then check the car's 12-volt terminals. If it's still inconsistent after both of those, bring me in to look at the fob hardware and run a system check.
