A cross-country road tripper pulled over on a rural highway shoulder near Fire Mountain had his key snap inside the door lock of his 2017 Fiat 500. The SIP22 blade broke clean in half. Another locksmith he called said the door cylinder would need to be drilled out and replaced. That estimate was pushing $500.
I used my Tango programmer to pre-code a fresh transponder from the BCM data I pulled through OBD before I touched the lock. Then I extracted the broken blade fragment from the door cylinder using my SIP22 Lishi, working around the stuck fragment to slide it out without damaging the wafer surfaces. Once it was out, I decoded the lock by reading each wafer position and cut a new blade from the readings. His car used a 4-button flip remote, FCC ID M3N-40821302.
No drilling and no cylinder replacement. His total was $265. The other locksmith's plan would have been $450 or more with a new cylinder and keys. His original lock works with the new key exactly like it worked with the old one.
