I was out in Buena Creek on a Saturday when the call came in. Guy had a 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz and a story that made me cringe a little.
He'd already paid somebody else to program a replacement fob after he lost his original. That locksmith got the doors working but the push-button start was flaky. I cleared the key memory, re-enrolled his fob from scratch, and walked through every button and the start function three times in a row before I called it done.
He asked what the dealer would have charged to fix the other locksmith's work. I told him more than I was charging, and that he'd have waited a few days for a service appointment on top of it. He just nodded. He wasn't surprised.
