2024 Kia Telluride Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
There is a dog boarding facility right on the edge of San Ysidro, close enough to the border crossing that you can hear the traffic stacking up. I got a call from the owner there on a Thursday afternoon. He had a 2024 Telluride and a road trip planned for the following morning.
His fob had been acting up for about a week. Intermittent key-not-detected warnings on the dash, the driver door handle touch unlock going unreliable, and the fob range had dropped off noticeably. He figured it was the battery, swapped it himself, and things got worse instead of better. That is what pushed him to call.
He told me he had actually watched one of my Kia key videos on YouTube before any of this happened. Saved the number and waited. When the trouble started, he already knew what the process looked like and was not walking in blind.
I pulled up to the facility, and the first thing I did was open the fob and look at the battery he had installed. CR2032. The 2024 Telluride takes a CR2450, which is a noticeably different cell. Wrong battery, wrong contact pressure, intermittent everything. Swapped in the correct CR2450, seated it properly, and ran through all five buttons. Touch unlock on both front doors, tested. Fob range out to the facility gate, tested. Start function, tested three times. Everything came back clean.
He did not need a full replacement or a programming session. He needed the right battery and someone who knew which one to look for. That is the kind of thing that saves a road trip.
Dealer would have had him wait for an appointment and probably handed him a quote before they even opened the fob. We were done on site in about fifteen minutes.
