2007 Pontiac Solstice
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2007 Pontiac Solstice Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a Solstice owner parked off Alicante Road near the Bressi Ranch shopping center. He had one key left, it was worn down to almost nothing on the blade, and he wanted a spare before it became an emergency. Smart move.

When I pulled up, the car was sitting in a surface lot, top down, classic roadster look. He handed me the original key and I could see the blade was thin in the wrong spots from years of ignition use. The cut was still readable, which was good. I made the replacement blade, got the new key programmed through the OBD port, and tested it in the ignition on site.

The whole thing wrapped up before he finished his coffee. He asked me what the dealer quoted him. I told him to call and find out, just for the comparison. He already knew. Someone had told him it was going to take a week because they had to order the key in, and the price made him wince enough to look for another option.

That is when he found me. He drove out of that lot with a working spare, same afternoon, and did not have to leave Bressi Ranch to do it.
