2011 Porsche Panamera
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2011 Porsche Panamera Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was already running calls in Kearny Mesa on a Friday night when this one came in around 10 o'clock.

A couple had come out of a restaurant near the Kearny Mesa area to find their 2011 Panamera sitting completely unresponsive. Key fob did nothing. No lock response, no unlock, nothing. They had tried clicking it in the parking lot for a few minutes and figured the car was broken. One of them said they thought maybe the battery in the car had died, but the interior lights were still on when they opened the door with the blade they had just discovered was hidden inside the fob. They had no idea that feature existed.

I got there in about fifteen minutes. The fob battery was gone - a CR2032 that had just given out. Swapped it on the spot, and the remote functions came back immediately. Then I walked through the backup start procedure with them so they would have it if this ever happened again when they did not have a spare battery on hand.

The one moment that stuck with me: the guy held up the fob after I showed him the insert blade and just looked at it like he had owned it for two years and was meeting it for the first time. He said nobody at the dealership had ever mentioned it.

They drove home that night. No tow, no waiting until Monday, no dealer service appointment.
