Worst case on a 2014 Porsche Panamera is when a previous tech attempted all-keys-lost, something went wrong during the KESSY bench read, and the module is now locked. Power interruption mid-read, wrong adapter, or skipping the data backup step. The car won't accept any key until the module is recovered.
A Euro performance shop in Ramona had exactly this. Another locksmith tried AKL on a customer's Panamera, the KESSY read failed mid-process, and the module locked up. The shop couldn't get the car to recognize any fob. They called me as a last resort before towing to the dealer.
I brought my ACDP for the bench recovery. I was able to read the KESSY module EEPROM data directly from the chip by soldering to test points on the board. I extracted the security data, generated a fresh key file, wrote it to a new smart fob, reinstalled the module, and cleared the faults. His fob, FCC ID KR55WK50138, was a 5-button car-shaped proximity key. I showed the shop team what had gone wrong so they'd know if it ever came up again.
Total job time was about two and a half hours, which is longer than normal. His bill was $461. The alternative was shipping the module or towing to the dealer for $818 or more. I carry the bench tools specifically for situations where the first approach hits a wall.
