I got a call from a resident over at Coronado Shores, one of the condo towers right on the beach. She had a 2004 Saturn VUE sitting in the parking structure and the remote had stopped working entirely. Lock button, unlock button, nothing. The good news on the 2004 VUE is that the remote can be reprogrammed without a lot of drama. I went through the relearn procedure using the ignition and got the fob back in sync with the vehicle. Tested lock, unlock, and the trunk release. All three buttons working.
She was back inside in under thirty minutes. She mentioned she had called the dealer first and they told her to bring it in. No timeline, just "bring it in." That works fine if you have a second car or a free afternoon. She had neither.
