2015 Acura ILX Smart key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Near Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, a restaurant server flagged me down on a Sunday. She'd already been burned once. Another locksmith had charged her full price for a 2015 Acura ILX smart key that never actually programmed. The car would crank, run for about two seconds, then the immobilizer killed fuel injection and it died. Classic incomplete security learn. The car didn't have a module problem. It had a locksmith problem. The ILX runs Honda's Type 4 immobilizer with a rolling code. If you rush the registration sequence or skip the timed security step, the PCM accepts the key data temporarily but never writes it to permanent memory. So the car cranks, sees an unrecognized transponder, and cuts fuel.
I used my HON66 Lishi to verify the mechanical cut on the emergency blade was correct, then connected through the OBD port with my IM608. Cleared the failed key data, ran a clean immobilizer learn with the full security timer, and confirmed the KR5434760 fob was written permanently. All four buttons working, clean push-button start, no two-second fuel cutoff.
I showed her the confirmation on my screen so she could see it was actually learned this time. She'd already paid the first locksmith too, which I couldn't help with. But I could make sure the job was done right.
