Your 2023 Acura TLX uses a smart key with 5 buttons on the face, a CR2032 battery inside powering the remote, and either a traditional blade or an emergency key tucked inside the fob. There's also a transponder chip or smart key module that communicates with the car's immobilizer every time you start it.

A single dad at the mobile home park near College Estates area had a TLX with a cracked fob. The housing had split at the seam and the buttons were barely hanging on. The dealer told him the only fix was a brand new fob, cut and programmed, for around 591. What they didn't mention is that the smart key electronics inside were perfectly fine. He just needed a new shell.

I met him at his place and used my ACDP to read the immobilizer data as a backup before touching anything. Then I moved his working electronics into a fresh housing, replaced the worn CR2032 battery, and verified every button and the start function.
