I got a call from a guy in Hope Ranch on a Tuesday morning. His 2019 TLX had been through the wash - not a rinse, a full cycle - and the smart key came out of his pocket with everything else. The car was sitting in his office lot in Santa Barbara and he had back-to-back meetings until late afternoon.

I told him to let the old one dry out completely in a bag of rice for 48 hours before writing it off - water damage sometimes recovers, sometimes doesn't - but either way he had a working key that day.
The dealer would have cost him more, taken longer, and required a tow he didn't have time to schedule. His car never moved from its parking spot.
