Push-to-start all-keys-lost on a BCM2 Audi is the job that scares owners the most. No key slot. No way to physically turn anything. The car needs to wirelessly detect a smart fob that is registered to its encrypted BCM2 module before it will even power up. If that fob is gone, the car feels bricked.
A conference attendee at a resort hotel valet in Oxnard (Ormond Beach area) on a Saturday night had a 2008 Audi A5 with push-to-start and zero keys. The valet had returned his car but he realized his fob was gone, probably left in a conference room that was now locked. The hotel concierge told him smart key replacement was dealer-only and the dealer was closed until Monday.
I drove to the resort. Push-to-start AKL on BCM2 Audis is more involved than a flip key job because the encrypted module needs to be accessed and its security data read before new keys can be generated. I used my ACDP to pull the BCM2 EEPROM data, sent it to the calculation server, got the return file, generated a dealer-level key, and then performed OBD key learning. His smart key, FCC ID IYZFBSB802, was a 4-button proximity fob.
His car started in a resort valet lane on a Saturday night. Total was 95. The dealer route would have been 200 plus a multi-day wait. Smart key AKL on Audi is not dealer-only. It is tool-dependent and process-dependent.
