2015 Audi A5 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got the call on a Tuesday morning in July. A florist in Victoria Estates, Oxnard, had her 2015 Audi A5 sitting in the parking lot with the windows up, AC off, and a full load of wedding arrangements in the back. Peonies and garden roses. She said she had maybe an hour before the heat turned them.
Her smart fob had just stopped responding. She tried the dealer. They told her tomorrow afternoon was the earliest they could get to it. She called me. I was twenty minutes out.
First thing I did when I got there was get the door open and the engine running so the AC could start dropping the interior temp. The flowers were already warm. That part could not wait.
Then I took a look at the fob. She had replaced the CR2032 herself a few weeks earlier but something still felt off about the way she described it failing. I opened the housing and found the problem: the old battery had leaked at some point, probably slowly over a long time, and the corrosion had worked its way into one of the internal antenna contacts. The new battery was sitting in clean metal but the contact path was compromised. The fob was not going to recover from that.
I replaced the fob entirely, registered it through the OBD port, and walked every function - lock, unlock, comfort access detection at the door handle, the works. Everything came back clean.
Phone call to engine running was under forty-five minutes. Full job including the programming and testing was just under an hour and a half. The dealer wanted her to wait until the next day and quoted her a number that made her pause. She got the flowers to the venue. The order was fine.
She texted me a photo of the ceremony table later that afternoon. I did not ask for it. She just sent it.
