She was near Silver Strand in Oxnard, at an outdoor area, pushing her infant in a stroller when someone grabbed her bag off the handle. Car keys, wallet, phone, all gone in a second.
She borrowed a phone from a nearby employee and called her husband, then the police, then me.
The 2010 Audi A5 was sitting at home. Zero keys. Her husband had already called the Audi dealer while she was still giving her statement. The dealer said they'd need the car towed in, could order the key, and were looking at three to five business days minimum. They also flagged that the stolen key was still capable of opening and starting the car, so they were recommending a full memory wipe alongside the new key. The combined estimate stopped him cold.

I accessed the immobilizer through the diagnostic port, wiped the old key data, and programmed two new fobs. I cut the emergency blade for each one, tested every button, walked the door handles, and confirmed the car was starting clean before I closed up.
She was home with her baby before the police had finished the paperwork.
The dealer estimate was steep, required a tow, and would have left them without the car for the better part of a week. We did it the same evening, on site, for a fraction of what they wanted. And the stolen key is dead to that car now.
