People lose all their Ford keys more often than you'd think. The most common scenario isn't dramatic. They just never got a second key. They bought the car used with one key, always meant to get a spare, and three years later that one key finally gives out.

A tenant at an apartment complex in Ventura had exactly that story. Her only key to her 2000 Ford F-250 cracked at the blade pivot and snapped clean off when she tried to open the door. Her fob, FCC ID , was a -button remote head key that I rebuilt into a new shell with the cloned chip inside. I showed her the chip from the cracked key so she could see it was still good.

She went from zero working keys to two in about 40 minutes. Total was around 95. A full all-keys-lost without the broken pieces would have cost more, and the dealer wanted 200 either way. If you still have the pieces, bring them. The chip data inside a cracked fob is often perfectly fine.
