Got a call from a woman staying at one of the hotels off Lindero Canyon, over in the Westlake Village area of Thousand Oaks. She was on a road trip, had one key for her 2011 F-250, and it just stopped turning the engine over. Remote buttons still locked and unlocked the doors, but the truck would crank and die every time. Classic PATS rejection.

I met her in the parking lot that same evening. Plugged into the OBD-II port under the dash, pulled the PATS data, and confirmed the PCM was rejecting the transponder handshake. The 4D63-80bit chip in her OUCD6000022 remote head key was reading intermittently. The transceiver ring had some play in it too, which was not helping.
I generated a new 164-R8070 blank, cut the blade on my machine in the van to match, and programmed the 80-bit transponder through the diagnostic port. Whole thing took maybe 25 minutes. Tested it across three start cycles to make sure the PATS accepted it clean every time.
She stood there watching me pack up and said, quietly, "I was about to cancel tomorrow." She meant the rest of her trip. That is the part that sticks with you after jobs like this.
