When a 2018 Kia RIO key is done wrong, it doesn't "kind of work." It fails. The remote might lock and unlock perfectly while the dash still says "key not detected" and refuses to start. Or push-to-start works for a few days then randomly stops detecting the fob after deeper security verification kicks in.

The replacement has been working for months and cost him 95. Dealer would have charged 200. The difference is the chip inside.
