2009 Kia RIO Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked on Alameda Padre Serra finishing up notes from a previous job when a message came in from someone over in the Upper East neighborhood of Santa Barbara.
She had locked her spare fob in the house before leaving for a class and her daily driver fob had stopped responding from more than a few feet away. Not dead -- the buttons still worked if she pressed right up against the door -- but the range had dropped to almost nothing.
She had her VIN ready when I called back. That made things move fast.
When I got to her on the street, she handed me the fob and I popped it open on the hood of my van. The CR2032 was original. Not corroded, not swollen, just old and tired. I swapped it, reseated the board inside the shell, and closed it back up.
Range came back immediately. We walked both doors, tested lock and unlock, and confirmed the key itself turned over without hesitation. Done.
She mentioned she had called the dealer earlier in the week and they had told her to come in for a diagnostic before they would even quote a replacement fob. I handed her the job in about twelve minutes. The dealer comparison was not the point of the call -- getting her back to a working setup was -- but she noticed anyway.
