2024 Kia EV9 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got called to Miramar Beach for an EV9 owner who discovered his smart key wasn't so smart anymore. Started with intermittent "Key not detected" messages, then total failure.

His TQ8-FOB-4F61U44 had all 8 buttons, fresh CR2450, but the car acted like the key didn't exist. He'd already tried the Digital Key app. Nothing. Even held the fob against the start button like the manual says. Dead.

I plugged into the OBD port and pulled codes. The BCM showed U1113 - Lost Communication with Smart Key Module. Not a bad fob. The smart key antenna behind the rear bumper had disconnected. Common on early builds according to TSB KT2023121501.

Popped the rear panel, found the antenna connector barely hanging on. One firm click and the system woke up. Ran through the verification: all 8 buttons, walk-away lock at 3 feet, walk-up unlock at 2 feet, three clean starts.

He asked about the dealer. Said they quoted him three days minimum because "EV9 keys need special ordering." I had it working in 20 minutes. Just needed to know where to look.
