A customer at her condo in Santa Barbara had her only smart key to her 2019 Lexus UX crack along the seam and the emergency blade snapped when she tried manual entry. Fob housing in one hand, blade stuck in the door lock. Zero working keys.
I used my VVDI2 to read the transponder data from the cracked fob's chip, which was still intact inside the broken housing. That saved time because I could skip a full immobilizer reset. I extracted the blade fragment, decoded the lock, and cut two fresh keys. Her fob, FCC ID HYQ14FBF, was a 3-button smart key rebuilt into a new shell with the salvaged chip and board. I showed her the chip from the cracked key so she could see it was still good.
She went from zero keys to two in about 45 minutes. Total was around 343. A full AKL would cost more, and the dealer wanted 623 either way. If you have the broken fob, bring it.
