Do you need to tow your 2020 Mazda CX-3 to the dealer? Probably not. For most Mazda models from the mid-2000s through the early 2020s, I handle all-keys-lost right at the car.
An overnight ER tech at her townhouse garage in Oxnard had her only smart key die at home around 11:15pm. Her CX-3 was parked with push-to-start and no fob the car would recognize. She assumed a tow was the only path and started calculating costs. I told her to stay home.
I connected my Smart Pro to OBD and ran the Mazda smart key AKL procedure, which walks through PIN read, keyless module reset, and the 7-minute security wait. Her smart key, FCC ID WAZSKE11D01, was a 4-button smart key. I programmed two new fobs as the system requires and tested everything in her garage.
Her total was about 234. Dealer would have been 409 plus the tow. There are some newest-model Mazdas where my tools don't support AKL yet. Those go to the dealer and I'll tell you upfront. But for the vast majority on the road, I do all-keys-lost on-site.
